Samia + Samar

Basic Breakdown:

Samia begins addressing the current events.

Both share their personal emotions.

Samia shares a Hadith about planting a sapling even when the day of judgement is happening. So they talk about planting good through this Matcha Talk.

They both space and respect to what is happening, acknowledge that it isn't possible for Matcha Talk to address the issue as it deserves and other platforms offer more conversations, and the importance of doing the work. Both voice their support to black lives.

Matcha Talk begins.

Samar shares about her difficult fasting Ramadan and she brings about the physical and spiritual aspect of fasting, and fasting being more than food which is given more precedence than the spiritual aspect.  Samar wonders if physically fasting while being drained and unable to focus on spiritual aspect, then can someone choose to not do the physical fast?

Samia mentions that it is a fiqh issue when health is concerned.  Also, that fasting from food, a physical fast is also spiritual act because it is in obedience to Allah's commands.

Discussion on feeling extremely exhausted is not normal and on the current medical model and both of their disappointing experiences.

A comment on benefit of being excused from fasting due to health.

Fasting is between you and Allah alone.  Legitimate reasons are excused.

They move onto a news story where a 30-year old living with his parents was being ordered to be evicted by court.

They both discuss the psychology of the situation and then address the personal growth challenges.

Discussion on similar situations - not endorsing Dr. Phil

Samar talks about moving forward is the point of life.

Samia talks about we miss the growth opportunity because we didn't value our self growth.

Both talk about self development and how you can do it too.

"Purpose of LIfe" video that we all have probably seen is discussed.
