What is journaling without some mess?

As peaceful as a page looks, this is my creative process. Strewn pages, stickers, stray pens and markers and whatever else that happens to be part of the creativity. But afterwards, it’s all picked up and placed into exactly where it needs to be.

Isn’t that how life is? So much chaos behind the scenes of what appears to be an accomplishment. While others see the final product, only you know how much of an investment you made into making something happen. I think in today’s culture there is an expectation of others having to completely understand your perspective. I disagree with that. Others don’t need to completely understand in order to value your existence. There doesn’t need to be a tell-all to share how you got to where you are. What it requires is only a bit of introspection from others to know that nothing happens without some mess and struggles are part of every step forward in life. If people reflect on their own lives, they can better understand the lives of others.

This ended up being a combination of my various planner choices over the years and I love it! Using a dated, bound @emmakateco planner and then adding this bujo-style spreads at the end is giving me all the planner peace vibes.

Hello everyone! 👋🏼 Assalam o Alaikum! I’ve been gone a while but if you’ve been seeing my very-sporadic stories, it’s been a struggle which appears to be coming to an end. InshaAllah! My health went haywire for the past couple of months and I just could not focus on anything other than survival and grad school while trying my best to not let exhaustion take that away from me. Alhumdulillah I finished quarter 4 just yesterday and with experimenting with some things, my energy seems to be coming back. It’s too early to tell and anything can happen, but I am so so happy to be able to come and say salaams to you all!

Sunnah Living started with planning posts and it continues to be a big part of my life. Planning is not only enjoyable but it results in a more organized life for me so I don’t see it ever going away. It has evolved over time with my needs as my life has.

I think I’ve talked enough for today 😃 Do you have your planner ready to go for next year? Almost there? Not there at all? Let me know that 👇🏼 and how you have been this winter/fall and summer for my friends down under 💚 I hope that you’ve been in much better health and spirit then me and that you are surrounded by love of those around you and most importantly, Allah’s Love.

We took a week during my study breaks to walk through Colorado. It was an immersion into mountains, a type that is my delight. While staring at their tall peaks, it’s impossible to not remember:

And ˹if˺ they ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about the mountains, ˹then˺ say, “My Lord will wipe them out completely, leaving the earth level and bare, with neither depressions nor elevations to be seen.” On that Day all will follow the caller ˹for assembly˺, ˹and˺ none will dare to deviate. All voices will be hushed before the Most Compassionate. Only whispers will be heard. On that Day no intercession will be of any benefit, except by those granted permission by the Most Compassionate and whose words are agreeable to Him.

Denver, Boulder, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Aspen were our destinations. Of them all, Boulder is the one where I can live forever (in the dunya, y’all. Jannah forever-forever pleasethankyou🤲🏼) 💛 It was relaxed, close to nature, bigish city next to a big city, nice masjid, everything one needs, and all my diet-friendly eats while being near mountains. ✔️ Wish list.

Will you consider going there? It’s worth it! Winter is not an ideal time as many roads and destinations close off due to the snow. Fall was enchanting 🍂

Mawlid ~ this is the month of our beloved ﷺ, It’s hard to remember a time when I didn’t know of him ﷺ. As children and into my young adult life, I did not really understand but learning more about him only increases one’s love for him ﷺ. To me, his character, his love for everyone, his fierce obedience to Allah ﷻ, and his gentle mentorship of his companions are from among my favorite things about him.

When I saw the hilya from @silsil.a , I knew I had to have it in our home and I was sooo grateful that it arrived during this month. It is stunning in person! I ordered a frame, surrounded it with plants and it felt like a special little addition. Don’t ask me how it felt to have to remove the plants after this reel due to our omnivore-wanna-be kitties. 😭
