My Hope Ledger
Documenting life. Quick cellphone photos. A bit of a smile. A moment of reflection. A moment of Gratitude. This Hope Ledger is my journal full of happiness, and only happiness.
When Breanne shared her Hope Ledger concept on her Instagram page, something felt familiar. You know when you read something and it sends a message to your brain that you know how it connects with your being? I felt it as soon as I saw the concept of this photojournalism. She describes it as imperfect, not scrap booking, but a daily collection of mindful photos. I had been eyeing Poloroid Zink Mobile Printer for a while but could not find the reason to make the plunge as there was no tangible use for it in my mind at the time. And then it all came together, making perfect, perfect sense. Everything happens for a reason, everything connects for a reason, it all falls right into place.
My Hope Ledger contains my moments where life stopped, when a feeling of gratitude struck and left me breathless. Normally, I whip out my phone and snap a photo, seeing it only when I am scrolling the ever rotating library of my storage-bursting phone. This fell into the idea of mindfulness, of choosing what moment deserved a special momento of being printed and preserved with a note or two into the Hope Ledger.
I affix each printed photo onto the empty pages using washi tape, jot down a few sentences worth of memories associated with it, and let the photograph recall the feelings it captured. My rule is to only print which causes a bursts of gratitude in the heart and capture them onto this ledger without reservation. It rests on my desk, ready to be picked up when I need to add another memory or, better yet in those specific times, when I need to recall it.
