Eid Gift Guide 2018
In a few short weeks, Ramadan is going to find itself being missed by millions of Muslims across the globe. Some are going to miss the late night worship and others will miss the morning gatherings before fajr prayer. Most importantly, we are going to miss the ease with which we were able to spend a few extra minutes or hours worshipping our Creator.
With every difficulty, there is ease. So after spending a month fasting in the summer heat, Eid is going to be knocking on our doors. In our household, giving gifts for every Eid is not a necessary expectation. I have chosen to abandon gifting some years and surprise my family with boxes of goodies the next. It is definitely a different story living without kids and family nearby. I am sure that creating a festive environment for kids is a lot more important than it is for us adults.
Whether you choose to give gifts for this Eid or the next, I thought to compile a gifting guide keeping the goals and aspirations of Sunnah Living lifestyle. Some of these gifts might be unconventional, but I do tend to be the weird one in the family. Why not make it so for you, my online family, too? Before I continue with my picks, I want to encourage you to visit your local shops to find beautiful gems that not only will bring happiness to the receiver but will contribute to the local economy and help the shop owner directly.
The Goal
Each gift will come from a place of purpose. I believe in supporting small businesses, the men and women who are working throughout the days to make a living. The money goes directly into supporting their business or providing for their every day needs and wants. Giving my hard earned dollars to those people brings a piece of mind that spending in any Micheals simply can not. What does that mean? I may be going Etsy-crazy in this post (surprise, surprise). It is one of the few places I know of where I can find artisans creating impeccable products for all occasions. However, there are few other website also listed. Without further adieu, here is the Sunnah Living gift guide for the year 2018.
For the Toddler
I got the inspiration for this gift from my niece whose imagination ends up finding so much joy in the most simple things. In order to promote love for vegetables and food while enriching the imagination, I think this felt food play set is perfect. If you want to give a little extra “treat” to the little ones, then the shop carries some desert options as well. The choices are as numerous – and simply adorable – as they can be.
For The Little Thinker
Nerds, unite. When I saw Umeda release the Children’s Dua Journal, I thought of a few in my life who would enjoy this. To develop the young mind towards loving Allah (swt) is important, specially at this time where the little minds are being barraged with secular viewpoints. This journal is flexible enough to allow for creativity and thoughtful enough to guide the child towards finding their own answers. I feel that this would be a perfect gift for a growing mind.
For the Hijabi
For those who are just starting to consider wearing hijab after a transformative Ramadan or for those who are wanting to add quality fabrics to their collection, Haute Hijab carries impeccable pieces. There are variety of prints and patterns but I have only tried their jersey fabric, multiple times, and it is the most quality items I own. These hijabs have become my go-to. In fact, I am currently eyeing some gorgeous chiffon prints for their lightweight and breathable fabric. You can choose to offer a collector set such as the one pictured or go for an individual hijab. They come in perfumed packaging so it is a perfect gift right out of the box.

For the Stylist
Handmade jewelry is the key to my heart. Can someone go back in time and tell my husband to steer clear of the mall and head over to Etsy for a wedding ring to remember? Well, my chance is gone but for the lady who has thoughtful taste, this necklace is a gift that will last. I was drawn to the turquoise line in the middle and workmanship of the pendant itself. This is a bit on the pricey side but for the one who loves craftsmanship and beauty, I feel that a handmade jewelry piece is a perfect gift.
For the Gadget Lover
This is perhaps the only gender neutral item in my post but it is one that I adore. These clever gadget covers are designed to look like books. For the phone, the tablet, or the notebook, they have variety of neutral color options to carry the gadget-of-choice in a nerdy, book style. Yes! I own one for my mini iPad and my husband could not stop complimenting it. If you rather go for a different look for the same purpose, BluCase is an excellent shop with quality sleeves.
For the Lover of Simplicity
When it comes to jewelry, I have very specific needs. My ears do not tolerate synthetic materials, causing them to have a painful reaction if worn for more than a few hours. Ever since I discovered Mejuri, I was sold. The items are made with solid materials like gold and silver, made in small batches by artisans, and are stunning for those who love a soft touch. I specially love the ring on the first finger whose matching earrings are most unique items that I wear every single day.
For the Chef
Are these not the cutest bottles you have seen? While searching for a perfect oil bottle to hold my avocado oil, this caught my eye immediately. I was looking for something ceramic to protect the integrity of the oil by replacing the glass bottles it comes in and something that was handcrafted. This shop also carries gorgeous planters and drink ware that has me swooning.
For the Dreamer
Receiving a bouquet of flowers on the doorsteps is probably one of the best things in a day. Sometimes, the perfect gift is gorgeous blooms and Farm Girl Flower blooms have been on my coveted list for a while. These are just gorgeous and handcrafted creations from a shop known for their customer service.
