Why "sunnah living"?
Assalam o Alaikum!
What would it feel like to be among those who are on a similar journey?
This was the consistent thought in my mind after moving into a relatively small city with a very small Muslim community. Day in and day out, I wondered how much I had missed from being inactive in my very-active home town realizing that the heart severely misses the goodness that it looses even if it never truly experienced it. I turned towards my phone, started an instagram account in search of the answer to the question and the rest is history.
It has been a growing experience since then. My posts began with sharing my love of planning and slowly evolved into sharing my spiritual journey, the ups and the downs and all of the pit stops in between, with thousands of strangers observing and sharing the same with me. I learned that we are all the same - spiritually starved beings craving for its fulfillment in whichever avenues our hearts are being inclined towards.
If our spiritual compass is askew, then the heart takes on an unlikely path. It is essential for us to constantly recalibrate the settings and tweak the compass so that it stays focused on its ultimate destination.
With the desire to do just that, I began the journey of Sunnah Living. My heart was craving for connection in a place where it was scarce and it found motivation through the thousands of sisters sharing the bits and pieces of their lives online. Later, I was still sharing the little pieces of my life that aligned with my vision of spirituality until I realized that having a public platform is of no use if it does not bring as much benefit as it has the potential
to do. I began inviting others along so that we could grow together in this life to the best of our abilities. In doing so, I learned that there were many seeking hearts on the same journey as me. Here I am and here you are, my friend. We are together on this journey of life and I am here to bring as many tools as I can to help us both live simply and grow spiritually.
We are on this earth for a short time and that time is filled with heart-shattering and heart-pumping events. Somewhere in the middle, we may be able to find quiet moments and listen to the sounds of our soul calling out to align with its purpose.
As you read this today, give that soul some attention. Calm the chatter of the mind and let the heart speak about what it is yearning for. Indeed, for a seeking heart, there is only one answer. Let's answer that call together.
With love,
Samia
