Hey Sister! Welcome to the new Matcha Talk with Samar and Samia. Let's meet our new co-host in this episode and discuss our Ramadan reflections.
Please note: This episode was recorded before the current uprising on behalf of Black Lives Matter. JazakAllah kheir for your advice and guidance in helping us to plant this seed of goodness and release this introductory episode anyway. We will discuss more on this in our next episode, insha'Allah.

Basic Breakdown:
Introduction to Samar.
Brief discussion on what is different: New logo (we worked hard), new website facelift, "Say Salaams" feature in show notes and on the website to get in touch with us and we will respond/address/talk about it. Give us feedback, your experience, what happened. Also, instagram has @matchatalk for all Matcha Talk content.
Premise is the same - spirituality, reflections, self growth is still the main purpose of the podcast. We don't like to have surface level conversations (like cooking and dishes etc). Hosts are comfortable with each other so we can dive right in.
Ramadan Reflections begin.
A globally interesting Ramadan for us all. Coronavirus is here - which is taking break for eid *wink wink*. Let's move on to the topic.
Samar shares about the lecture she is listening to about Surah Yusuf by Nouman Ali Khan and the importance of "the best story" which Allah ﷻ has stated in the beginning of the Surah and the different variations on the meanings of the word. Conversation on fiction stories and what qualifies a story. She is missing so much because she doesn't know why that word is there.
What is "the best story?"
Samia shares that the stories the Quran, Quran itself, changed the hearts and minds of people and impacted them for life. That's when you know the story is good.
Samar: Good point. Promotes action, apply it in your life. Discussion on why its difficult to understand for a person who prefers fiction.
Comparison with Harry Potter.
Samia shares her reflection on a ramadan of gratitude due to being able to go through it. Importance on routines.
Samar: When we moved, routine is what kept me sane.
They talk about their cross country move.
Samia does not like routine but Samar learned that there is something for routine.
Samia talks about books talking about anxiety, mental health issue, etc saying how routines are good. Samia was not good with routines but have finally understood that there is something in them.
Routine happens for a while. Have already done routine work so a few more weeks and then it will become a routine.
Routines can be daunting - "I have to pray for the rest of my life". Discussion on importance of taking it one step at a time.
Samar talks about missing a fast even after trying her best and they discuss on how Allah protects us from things that we don't know.
A comment on Samar's health issues complicating fasting.
Forgetting Allah's tests when we reach difficulty and the blessings on being forgetful.
Episode ends with mentioning the @matchatalk account on information where they will be engaging with the listeners, mentioning chatting on IG about What was your thing from Ramadan? What did you get out of it?
Say Salaams to drop in a private word.
